Saw Bend it Like Beckham with CP and I gotta say, Keira Knightley is still HOT AS HELL even when she's a tomboy. Damn...that stomach...those abs. It's funny how many fags there are around. I think we'll start a pool next time, "No Fags". Or have I already talked about this. It'll be like the No Homers club. Too many fags. And I don't mean gay people. Gay people are generally cool. I mean fag as in ignorant, nerdy, squeamish fucks. Just like ****** is often not used as a derogatory term for an orc, but for an ignorant or an incompetent.

One good thing about a new blogging attitude is, I don't mind beating a dead horse anymore. My material is whatever I'm thinking at the moment. That said, I placed an order for the Pirates sheet music. Mwa ha. All hands on deck you scabrous dogs! Josh Towers what a fucking fluky piece of shit! Blast you Towers! Damn scallywag.

My brothers got me Gangs of New York on DVD. What an amazing movie. As inaccurate as it may be, you get a real sense of how heavily history weighs on a country. The feeling of revolution and change is abundant in the movie's atmosphere. You can really see the roots of America being sown. Must be Scorcese's best work in a loooong time. It's not a perfect movie, but it works. DiCaprio is good, he's always been a good actor but he's such a wimp. His bulked up look suits him in this movie. I hate Cameron Diaz though, never liked her. And her Irish accent is so fake. Of course the truly triumphant performance is from Daniel Day-Lewis. I still think he should have won Best Actor over Adrien Brody but it's a tough call. Day-Lewis was awesome. He made Bill the Butcher fearsome, comical and intelligent all at the same time. One moment he's cowing the masses with his penetrating gaze, in the next he's cracking a joke at Mr. Tweed, or he's doing an analysis of politics in the Five Points. But what I liked most was that despite being the "bad guy", Day-Lewis was able to bring pathos to his character. You feel for William Cutting at times, despite his madness and cruelty. You pity him for the fact he is fighting in memory of his father and for love of his country, but that he's so disillusioned as to the proper way to do so. You admire his passion for his cause, as maniacal as it may be. All in all, Day-Lewis skillfully brings to life a powerful character and he brings a commanding screen presence to the part. Two thumbs up for Gangs of New York.

P.S. The DVD however, sucks. There's like 2 extra features only. The U2 song is good though.

Yo Squid, no worries, it wasn't even a bail, considering mitigating circumstances and they were totally legit. Man we had something in store for him too bad he didn't come! And we couldn't do it to Victor since he left early. Anyways, thanks guys for the bash last night. Good thing Victor's brother brought 2 chicks for about 20 min. so it wasn't a total sausage party. HAHAHAHA. CP told me last night AAAs was Lorne. Man I feel so bad! I like Lorne and I was dissin' him without knowing. Well don't I have dog doo on my shoe!

Cool they're having a 3-hour made-for-TV film for Thomas Hardy's The Mayor of Casterbridge. Basically, it's about a drunk dude who sells his wife and kids for 50 or so guinea pigs.

Team's suckin' balls this week. I better not lose to that AAA guy, since I dissed him hahahaha. S'ok tho, I get the last laugh, he's not goin' to the playoffs sucka! Kevin Cash. He better be good. Next year he'll get more PT I hope. See what he can do. His minor league stats indicate he can hit well (for a catcher) and apparently he's like a wicked defensive catcher (56% baserunners thrown out this year and 44% last year or something). He's on Aaron Gleeman's top 50 prospect list. Of course that's no certification to greatness. He's such a shorty though, I mean for a baseball player. Reminds me of Craig Grebeck. Same with Marcus Giles. I don't know how that guy has hit 14 HR. Anyways so Cash. Wilson and Myers are good this year but it's a fluke year for both, so we need Cash to do well long-term. I never imagined Ichiro had such a wicked arm. I mean come on, small asian guy, you'd never figure. His good average/OBP/speed didn't surprise me at all of course. Josh Phelps, what a disappointment. So fluky last year. Can't say I'm surprised though, he swings at everything and his swing is so fucking long. You know he's gonna strike out a lot. Clay and P.Lo are dangerous, people tend to underestimate them. At this point I feel they both have better teams than 1-2 at the top so we'll see.

Thank goodness for VCR. Dave man, you had the power, you should have bumped Alex. Alex is a big fag, he lies and says one thing then the other. Nothing wrong with being a heel, but be it all the way like Will in BB2. They'll regret not getting rid of the All-American back-stabbing pussy homo. Poor Beau. The only guy who told the truth the whole way. He's got honour. Dave's still cool tho, I mean, he's a smart dude, he can think of something to kill Alex. I actually feel sorry for Amy now, she's so hurting. Once Alex and Kristen are gone they're be no one to hate haha. All the guests will be cool then; I won't care who wins.

Man is there any band as good as Linkin Park. Even though all their songs sound pretty much the same, for some reason, they still sound awesome and you can't get enough. They've got the formula down.

August 26th. Be there or be square. HAHAHAHA. I loved the corny commercials last year. "One DVD to rule them all." HAHAHAHA.

All guys named Alex are like, assholes.

From a friend:

dude... I wouldnt never take eeyore on a quest... he'll soo get killed right off the bat... with data, I think he'll get too annoying and we'll just ditch him after awhile.. booo...

I couldn't stop cracking up when I read that. Haha so true, so true. Ability counts at least as much as friendship in something like this. We don't want dead weight killing us all. I'd still take the Big Three though, their ability speaks for themselves. AJ can use rage factor, like me. That's like Wolverine's healing factor. And G can fight. CP's got size and reach. And he could like, haggle prices with innkeepers and get us good rooms and shit hahaha. Eeyore man, he'd be like those extras who get killed in the fight scenes. Poor guy.

Vladimir Guerrero is absolutely awesome. A shame the Expos will never be able to keep him. Coolest thing about Guerrero is his old school no batting gloves styles. While I enjoyed G's rants and his fans' mail rants (and I agree with them), I'm not gonna get into the quality-of-blog/website debate anymore. Cuz I'm sure there's people who like mine and people who hate mine, so I'm just gonna write. This blog's for me and if people don't like it, they can write their own. Of course, no one likes criticism, but seeing as how one's life or job or well-being doesn't depend on pleasing the masses in a blog, I won't worry about it and we'll all just write merrily along. Terry Goodkind's next novel in his never-fucking-ending series came out, rather quietly I might add. I barely noticed it at Chapters while looking for the Captain Kidd book. Critics say Naked Empire is better than his last novel, but still a vast disappointment. Kind of like EP1 and EP2 I guess. When will he learn the Robert Jordan formula doesn't work! I love to bash guys like Robert Jordan and Vince Carter on my site; it never gets old. I have to agree with Aaron Gleeman, Baseball Guru, that the new Fox show, The OC is pretty good. I guess I always liked the idea of sticking the poor, uncouth, rebel character into the midst of haughty, rich, uppity-ups and watch the sparks fly. Could be a big acting break for Benjamin McKenzie who plays Ryan Atwood. The story kind of reminds me of Wolverine for some reason; maybe it's the leather jacket Ryan always wears. It's that rough image and outcast role he's got, with all the stupid rich kids acting like they're better than him. In that sense they're all Cyclopses. Mischa Barton's like Jean Grey then, wanting the bad boy, but having to stick with these rich pretty boys. She's quite cute but too much on the thin side. Peter Gallagher is always good. I like the son dude too, he's all goofy and he skateboards in an abandoned pool as a half-pipe. Weird. He looks like that dorky white guy on Train 48 (24?) or whatever. I liked the scene when Ryan punches the rich kid:

Rich kid: You know, you're pretty far from 8 Mile. HAHAHA.
Ryan: Man, you know what I love about rich kids?

Ryan: Nothing.

You'll find, especially in North America, so many rich kids, who simply have everything they could ever want, and are so bored and lack attention that they do crazy shit. I'm not talkin' about drugs 'n sex 'n petty crime. I think I read somewhere some case (I'm getting old, I can't remember anything anymore), where these rich kids in Cali...straight A students, with good families, wealth, part-time jobs...murdered some kid in some crazy cult ritual shit. Man rich kids. They're so fucked up. I know that was supposed to sound more insightful, but, forget it I'm not editing. So Paradise Hotel is so funny, the new guest was the guy that Weird/Nerd Dave beat out. But the funny thing is, they guy is weirder than Dave if possible. He has a stuffed monkey that he talks to and he was putting on some of the chicks' dresses. Problems. I like weird Dave though. He's an underdog! So some kid today is like "all the good high schools end up being bad high schools, cuz immigrants hear about how good they are, then go there and they lower the quality of the school." Dude, you're a freaking immigrant urself. What are u talking about. Kids these days.

Haha Ashley Morton was on CP24, talking about rising tuition and students starving to death.

Personal protest is where it's at. I don't care if people think it's pointless, but I think boycotting and refusing to support or take note/interest in those things that are not worth their entertainment value is justified. Especially, if, like G says, they are DRY, or are TALES OF OUR LIVES, or are stupid/offensive/ignoramus. So far, have successfully avoided 3, soon to add another. G's shit is actually good, real, that's why I'd keep reading it. He doesn't cater to shit. That's why I love Anne's, hers is the same way (straight from the hip as she says). Mine, trying to write whatever shit I want too, don't care what dicks think. I mean, you never share everything you think/feel/want to say, but what you do should be real. Stop trying to be cool you fool. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

WARNING SPOILERS FOR STUFF: READ AT YOUR OWN CAUTION

I saw a friend recently, an old friend, one haven't seen in a long time. I suppose when you're out of touch for that long, you're no longer really friends anymore. We got to talking, catching up a little. As the conversation "deepened" so to speak, she confided in me she'd been doing something, really trying something, lately, that I wouldn't really rate as smart in my books. Nor cool, nor responsible. I was frankly shocked. She was not like this before. She was a "good" girl. I asked her why in the blazes was she doing something like this. Her reply was, "I thought it was time to let up on the tight rope a little." Whatever. Admittedly, it's not like her activities are something others haven't tried and sure, it's not the worst thing you could possibly do. But it's so out of character. There's nothing wrong with having some fun or trying a new direction; "letting up on the tight rope" so to speak. But seriously, there's no need to sell yourself out. Sell out what you stand for. Well whatever, her choice. It surprises me how many people go through these kind of crises (is that plural?) and to find change, they go into the negative instead of the more positive. Then again, she's not really a friend anymore so it's not my place to say.

I'm glad Marcus Giles has finally busted out this year. I'd been waiting for that to happen for a couple years now. But the Braves keep sticking in big-time losers at 2B like Mark DeRosa and the MIA Quilvio Veras. He's Brian Giles' brother, he's GOT to be good. Of course, Jeremy Giambi is Jason's brother and he sucks (actually he can hit; he just has too many injuries and basically only can DH). Anyways, the Canadian dude, Rich Harden, is awesome. Oakland's going to have the Big Four now. That's just sick. Toronto has the Big One. What on Earth happened to Corey (Cory?) Lidle? Harden's only had 4 starts so far but hasn't given up more than 2 runs in any. Small simple size to be sure, so we'll see how he does next year, when hitters adjust to him (and how he counter-adjusts).

The next 3 or 4 weeks are prime time for Cyclops to rev it up into high gear and take the pennant. With Lt. Cmdr's team ailing, there's a great opportunity. I still say Cyclops drop Bernie Ma Williams for a 3B or a C. Those 2 spots are a wastin'. I figure with 3 hitting categories as totalizations and not averages, it'd serve better to fill those vacancies to get more production. And Williams has like no trade value. But who am I to speak, being in measly 5th place.

So the comic book/sci-fi/anime convention is coming back to town for it's yearly visit. Last year was my first time, it was great. Of course this year, I probably won't go. It's too tempting there to buy stuff, I spent a fortune last year. That was also the last time I saw Clay. It's just not the same without him around. AJ should really go to the Sci-Fi convention. AS guests this year, they have Ray Park, David Prowse, who played the original Vader (JEJ did the voice), and of course Adrian and Neil Rayment, the twins from Matrix 2. Apparently, they are both 2nd degree black belts in Shotokan (love that word) Karate. You'd never know it by the minimal screen time they get in the movie. They get like one 5-second fight sequence with Morpheus. The rest of the time they're driving or firing a machine gun. I thought they were just a couple of white guy stiffs they had to train. Either they didn't give them any more scenes or most of it was left on the editing room floor. Shame. Maybe we'll see more of their skills in the next movie or the DVD. Anyways, AJ should go. I wonder if Testiclees ever goes to those, this year they have Leonard Nimoy, Denise Crosby and some guy from Enterprise. Seems like his kinda deal.

You gotta love all the little hypocrites in this world eh?

Ok, from what movies I've seen, and those released to this point:

Top 5 Action Blockbusters of the '03

1. Pirates of the Carribean
2. X2
3. Matrix: Reloaded
4. Daredevil
5. T3

No big surprises here. Haven't seen that many other action ones. Pirates was an easy choice; this is really more my type of movie than more high-tech/futuristic action thrillers. Ah X2 or Matrix 2. That was tough. Both were good, but I loved Matrix 2 more for the action than any story it had. The action was good, Smith is awesome, and the last convo with the Architect was cool, but that's it. Whereas, I liked most of X2 and being a long time X-Men fan, I was impressed. Same reasoning for Daredevil over T3. Why do people have such a problem with Affleck as Murdock? It's actually a great role for him compared to the other junk he's been doing.

So Dat Phan won. Neurotic Dat Phan. He's good. Either way, the 2 finalists would have sent a good message. Dat Phan for Asians, and Ralphie May (sp?) for fat people. Paradise Hotel is so funny. I'm glad they voted off Toni; she was as they say, a butch. I admire her loyalty however. Really, the one who should have left was Amy. She is such a bitch. Her rant on Keith (who looks like Sly if you ask me) was so obnoxious. He's playing a game, you should do the same. It's not a hookup-fest there. You're playing for money. And the notion that Zack "never had a girlfriend" before Amy. That's laughable. Weird Dave and Evil Charla make such a cute couple. They're so weird. Keith's cool for being such a heel and booting Zack off the show. I hate all the "Originals". It's that clique mentality, reminiscent of all the jerk posses in high school. Maybe I'm just bitter because I was never in one ;). But the rest of the men are so boring. They're all the same. Typical good-looking, pretty-boy all-American type jocks with blond or sandy brown hair. Haven't seen a more scheming series since Big Brother 2 (Evil Will was hilarious vs. Mr. Hardy the Adonis) or Survivor 2 (Colby should have won).

I never get around to writing about what I've read. Takes too long to think of a thoughtful review. Bean Trees was wonderful. Very charming in a disarming way, I'll have to try more of Kingsolver's books. I loved the witty, sarcastic Southern young lady she portrayed with Taylor. Working on Nights in Rodanthe. Too many books, too little time as AJ says. I want to read Moneyball. That's a must. Then I need to read Jane Eyre. Then Nic Spark's next book. There's also this nice pirate book about Captain Kidd I want to read. All that should take me right up to November, when the long-awaited, much-heralded next book in the ultimate series, A Song of Ice and Fire hits the shelves. That's right, George R. R. Martin's A Feast for Crows. What will Catelyn do now that she's neither living, nor dead (like a Nazgul). Where has Tyrion sailed to after killing his father? And of course, The Kingslayer, my favourite character...is he going to fully turn face now? He's half and half right now. And maybe, just maybe...will it be finally revealed that Jon is who most readers have figured out by now? This is the BEST fantasy series out there right now. It eclipses anything anyone else has done that I've read. And his plot twists and the mysteries actually SERVE A PURPOSE unlike Robert Jordan who throws them in there to make more money. The best part is that most of the plotline is based on intrigue, powerplay and politics. That's the reason for the twists and turns. Reading it almost reminds me of America jockeying for power, or watching the lead-up to some provincial election. So much bartering, negotiating, conspiracy going on. It's also nice there the fantastical elements like magic are very subtle and barely used.

I Spoke with Eeyore a few days ago. I feel bad, he's always such a nice guy and a good friend. I agree with him on the Kobe issue; we'll give him his day in court first before we condemn him, but really, why is everyone so shocked at the adultery admission? Like Eeyore says, "That's not the first time he's done it. Just the first time he's gotten caught." He's right, it's completely a lifestyle thing. How many star athletes HAVEN'T done that. Even the Bible-thumping ones, like John Starks, did it (what a hypocrite). Even the superstars, like MJ. So really people, why the shock? It is the nature of all men. Or 99% of us. And a great portion of women too. But yes, Eeyore is such a nice guy. G is right, it's just so EASY to be mean that's why. But I shouldn't justify. He's a good guy. CP is right, I'm such a fence-sitter with heeldom. Sometimes I seem on the verge of conversion, then I pull back. Hehe. Ah well :).

I've written about friends before and how you know, if they're willing to put their neck out on the line for someone, you know they're good men (and women), and true. It's all about trust right, as they say. It's about who's got your back as G says. So I'm writing more on this, ripping some ideas from G. Well, I can't say that I'm the best kind of friend to anyone, as, like I said before, I'm such a fence-sitter and anti-social, but I know (and am grateful) who are good friends when I see one. If I needed a fellowship to take a ring to some volcano and destroy it, I know who I would take. If I needed to call the banners and ride to war to dethrone a mad king, I'd know who would hearken to my call. If I needed to pick a team for anything, I know who'd be reliable. G, AJ, CP, are definite. All jokes and competition aside, Data. Eeyore. Back in high school there were others...Dick, Wayne, Di, Denise. The Rock was an amazing friend. I had Alyssa (and I think I still have her). Liss you are an amazing girl, I know we've had some probs, but you're nothing if not loyal and faithful. Clay too for sure, Squid very likely, and others too, but I don't know them as well. I gotta say, AJ is one of the smartest guys I know. He picks things up like lightning and he's always learning/exploring cool stuff on his own. Admirable quality. Glad he has a good job doing something he actually likes and is interested in. G, he's a tough dude. He'll be all modest and downplay it, but seriously, he's a tough dude. And smart. Knows how to work/handle people and make friends. Best thing though, I think, is his discipline. Always admired that. Even in high school he wasn't quite like the others. He had focus. CP. The man. Who owns. Haven't talked much about him before, so time to give him his due. It's always praise for sports or comics, but it's more than that. Here's a guy who, when in engineering, was smart, but maybe not one of the heavyweights. So he uses other assets. He's smart because he knows what he's good at and what not, and sets his goals that way, and goes for it. He's got one thing the other guys don't have...he's not so bitter or hung up on stuff. That's his greatest asset, he just sits back, watches, and observes. The Great Observator. Kinda like those dudes in Marvel, the Celestials or something. Great business sense too. Good work guys.

It's not only engineers that hurt when it comes to romance; other people in other professions do too you know. Picture this. You've been with your girlfriend for near 5 years. You're in your mid-30s now. You both decide to jointly buy a house and finance it together. A dream house. One that's luxurious, big, beautiful. For when you marry. For your kids. A couple years later, your girlfriend leaves you for another guy. She backs out of the deal with the house (not sure on the specifics here) and leaves you hanging. So either you abandon it or you finish financing it. You decide you want to keep it. But now you have to put in double the finances into this endeavour. And so you're stuck having to work 2 extra part-time jobs on the side despite having a full day job anyways. Women are such heartbreakers. You gotta feel sorry for the guy. Although most people probably wouldn't have kept the house.

Ok long entries are nice. Get all my thoughts out at once. Now I'm good for another week or 2 hahaha. Ok I'm sick of my Pirates soundtrack (which is awesome) now. Gotta find/buy the sheet music. I just noticed there's so many spelling/grammar errors. Blogger needs a spell-checking function. I'm not gonna paste this into Word and do it then paste it back. Maybe someone can code an add-on for them.

Eh, too lazy to write about anything. Data got OWNED by Cyclops. OWNAGE. Who OWNS? Cyclops. Movin' up to take that throne. Ass-rapeage!!! Nice work Cy!

HAHAHAHAHA. Harry Pothead and the Sorcerer's Stoned
